November

We spent a week in November dropping off the tractor and working on the property (and freezing at night).

I spent most of my time tearing the side off the barn, salvaging the lumber, and filling in the hole

Lotsa junk inside the barn. I cut the big hole in the LH side so I could fit the tractor in there for the winter

Working on the tractor

We bought a tractor

Picked this up on 9/11 from a guy in Hartville, about an hour SE of Cleveland.

Needs a bit of work and the usual maintenance, but all in all, not too bad.

August update

These are pics from our late August trip. Main purpose was to deliver and assemble the compost outhouse I built up in Cleveland. That was pretty successful. We stayed two nights in the tent and spent the day working on the property.

Snake skin I found in the old camper:

Our campsite not too far from the barn:

The old trailer:

This is the view from right next to the house looking up towards a hill. Campsite/barn on the other side of the hill. This is the path I cut with the lawnmower.

Another view of the old camper:

More detailed pics of the old house than we've had:

Camper again. I cut a lot of the brush down around it:

Interior pics of the house:

Old root cellar:

This pic taken about where the treeline ends into the clearing on the driveway:

View from the same spot looking into a cleared area we hadn’t explored yet.

Same spot, looking back up the driveway up the slope into the wooded area.

The path I cleared:

More pics of the root cellar:

Looking down from the house into the pond where the spring is.

Another shot of the house:

Looking down the path, root cellar on the left (house is on the right)

Path I cut down to the spring - just wide enough for walking. Too steep for the truck.

Camp site from the barn.
